It is a gripping Cold War thriller – and now Steven Spielberg’s £30 million blockbuster Bridge Of Spies is at the centre of its own drama.
British author Giles Whittell, who wrote a book with the same title, has started legal proceedings against Spielberg’s production company Dreamworks II, and Twentieth Century Fox.
Their film is based on Strangers On A Bridge, a book about the historic exchange of spies across the Iron Curtain in 1963 written by James B Donovan, a lawyer involved in the negotiations who is played by Tom Hanks in the movie.
